Why flourishing matters

Why would you (or, anyone for that matter) want to operate in anything less than “a vigorous state” or to “be in one’s prime; at the height of fame, excellence, influence” or to “be successful; prosper”?

By definition, that’s what flourishing is all about.

And, no, it’s not a new concept – far from it. Even as a familiar concept, it’s still not commonplace today. We have a long way to go before it’s the norm and not the exception.

What’s certain is we have a lot of compelling reasons, as individuals and business leaders, to focus on getting (and staying) there!

There’s a laundry list of data-driven reasons why flourishing matters, all of which ultimately apply to us personally and to the bottom line of any business.

For example, flourishing results in:

  1. greater productivity, creativity and engagement,
  2. lower healthcare use (and costs),
  3. living healthily, mentally and physically, now and in the future,
  4. living longer, and enjoying it more.

Yes, there’s data to back all this up. There’s over two decades’ worth of data, actually. So, why haven’t you seen this before? Yet another great question – but, that doesn’t really matter. What does matter is now you know.

Why wouldn’t you want to have a blast every day – doing good, doing well and having a blast doing it? Yes, you really can flourish, on purpose SM .
